it's actually basically day three now but who cares
HELLO
on the first day of booktube-a-thon i started and finished reading beautiful stranger by christina lauren which was the second book in the beautiful bastard series.
this book focused on the love life of sara dillon, who we're first introduced to in the first book, however she isn't the main protagonist of the first book. she is the co-worker and a best friend to chloe (protag. in 'beautiful bastard').
sara has just recently broken up with her boyfriend/fiancee of six years after finding out about him cheating on her for years. she has moved to new york from chicago to continue her work in her past company, alongside chloe and bennett. chloe and some of their friends decide that sara needs a rough, wild night out, so they have a girls night out at a club. in the club, sara meets a mysterious, undeniably gorgeous british man with whom she clicks pretty well with right away. she wants to have just one wild night (just as his ex had had during their relationship) and do something that's so very out of her comfort zone. she keeps an eye out for the 'beautiful stranger' and they end up hooking up in an almost visible corner of the club, where absolutely anyone could see them. however, this is not where the story ends, as sara keeps seeing him unexpectedly in places she goes, and her and the stranger can not keep their eyes to themselves.
so, this is a companion to 'beautiful bastard' which is why i felt comfortable with telling briefly what it's about.
this was a lot better than the first book because there was more plot to it - we actually learn about the characters, about their past lives and family more, even if at some point it's oh-so-very brief. well, at least it was something. it had more depth to it, as we could see the two falling for each other, not just see their desires and how they have sex in every single chapter (which 'beautiful bastard' failed in, at least that's what i thought). i didn't like how long the chapters were though - the book was three hundred and forty two pages long and it was split into only seventeen chapters. seventeen!!
overall, i gave this book three point twenty five stars on goodreads, 'cause it was a smidge better than the first one.
as of right now i'm reading the maze runner by james dashner but i'm not far into it at all and i've almost completely failed today's reading. and i blame it fully on a road trip i went on with some people. got outta the country for the day, lol. i'm fifty six pages only into it, but at least that's progress!
hopefully i'll get done with this and another book tomorrow 'cause i have tons of time tomorrow for reading and i'm home alone for majority of the day so there's no interruptions whatsoever. yay!
pages read: 399
until next time
x o
