137 - the deal

i had a laptop meltdown so i haven't updated. apologies.

i have started and finished a couple of stories in the meantime.

first off, i have not finished reading opposition yet because it's just so slow at the first half and i promise to finish it in the month of september after i finish up with my library books this week. pinky promise.

i haven't continued on with science, bitch but it's in my reading list, just not a priority right now.

the next story i read on wattpad was direct messages. by kiyah_h which was a justin bieber story where a girl posts photos of herself on instagram and justin bieber compliments her, and they become friends to lovers. very average but it made me interested to continue with it, so i also read a bit of homecoming, the sequel, but i didnt' get very far with it and then just skimmed through. it's obvious they'll be together either way, so it's a three point twenty five stars from me.

i also read group dms by drumsets which i later realised that i've read before, so it was a reread. again, a very average 'famous person dms a fan' type of story i enjoy reading.

texting by michaelgclifforddddd was a michael one where he texts the wrong number, thinking it's calum and he's supposed to get tampons for his mum from the store. again, fun, but nothing spectacular.

then on the same day as i read the previous four books, i received the book that tore my heart out and stomped on it with eight inch stilettos that have a spike at the bottom. it ends with us by colleen hoover. i finished this in three days 'cause i wanted to savor it. this is now my favourite colleen hoover book.it was spectacular but i can't tell you really anything about it 'cause it will spoil the whole damn thing and it's absolutely the best to go in not knowing anything about it. i will not give trigger warnings.
but our main character is lily bloom and she has a dream to open up a flower shop. that is all. it's an obvious five-star read. so very obvious.

the next book i started reading but didn't finish was carrie by stephen king. i have intentions of finishing it one hundred per cent but i just can not deal with my obsession with new adult books right now.

so, up next i started reading i sold myself to the devil for vinyls... pitiful i know by darknessandlight on wattpad. it's an extremely popular story but i've sort of forgotten what it's about but i know it was super good but then i got books out from the library and abandoned this one, thinking i could easily come back to it after reading all of these. ...yeah. but i will read it!!!!!

i went to tallinn for another week so i started up with crown of midnight by sarah j. maas, sequel to 'throne of glass', but i only got five chapters in and i ain't rushing with it yet. (tho 'empire of storms' comes out in like two-three days...) so yas.

my first library book i read was the deal by elle kennedy which was about a girl who's been swooning over a classmate of hers for the two months he's been in her school but she's never made a move. at the same time, we have garrett who's the perfect impersonation of a bad boy. he's the star hockey player of ther school but he's lacking on his studies and therefore he's threatened to be kicked out of the team if he doesn't get his grades up. after running into our main protagonist hannah, he notices that she aced the midterm they had had and he keeps begging her to tutor him to which she finally after a while agrees to. the deal is that he helps her to get to her crush but that doesn't work out as planned.
one of my favourites now!! i loved how garrett wasn't actually a douchebag and he was a genuinely nice guy, same goes with hannah. they got on well but had their moments and there wasn't really any slutshaming and things that happened were handled very well in my opinion. five our of five stars!!

then i read a book that's been on my radar for absolute years - pushing the limits by katie mcgarry. this is the story of echo who has had a major event happen in her life, so big that she has completely lost her memories of the incident. she only knows that her mother tried to kill her. she struggles to find out what actually happened and no one will tell her about it, unless she figures out herself.
then we have noah who is struggling to get past difficult times as well - after his parents died in a house fire, he tries to get his brothers back from their foster parents. he promises to get custody over them after turning eighteen and it's very hard on him as he's only now trying to get past high school and his therapist isn't making this easy on him.
echo and noah share the same therapist, mrs. collins, who is very headstrong about them both. the two are assigned together for a tutoring session - echo is tutoring noah so he could get through his courses. and things evolve from there.
this was exactly what i hoped for but it was a little bit slow at a time. four stars!

right now i'm in the middle of reading ten tiny breaths by k. a. tucker. this tells the story of kacey who runs away from her aunt and uncle with her sister livie, because their uncle tried to molest livie and he spent all their money they had to gamble. they move away to miami into a sketchy-looking apartment complex where they think they can start fresh. livie goes to high school and kacey works at a starbucks to keep their heads above water. this isn't at all where it ends. on one side of the wall lives trent - a mysterious bad boy type guy who kacey is extremely attracted to after he scares her in the laundry room; and on the other side lives storm - a bartender blonde curvy girl with a five-year old daughter mia. and then there's kacey's past and family which she refuses to tell anyone about but trent i sthe guy whom she opens up to, only for it to backfire in her face.
i was a little bit hesitant to pick it up honestly but at this moment, as i'm halfway through, i'm enjoying it! can't wait to see what happens and what the big upcoming reveals are. so far - four point five stars.

and that is it as of this moment! august has ended so it's only fair for me to do a wrap up and a book haul next. i have a few arrangements to discuss in the next post, so see you there!

today's song choice is 'december (again)' by neck deep ft. mark hoppus. i'm in love with this band. also i cry 'cause it's been a year since leeds festival aka the best experience of my damn life.

until next time

x o
