136 - mid year book freak out tag 2016

this is a tag i saw float around in july this year so i'm also doing this tag as of abouf the fifteenth of july and before, even though it's a bit late. i'm just loving seeing those videos on booktube so i thought i'd do this in a blog post form.

the creators of this tag are readlikewildfire and ely jayne last year, so this is something that's been brought back for this year 'cause it's a fun little tag to do.

now to the questions!

1. the best book you've read so far in 2016

ugly love by colleen hoover because i've been raving on and on about it since i read it in april and this is so far my favorite colleen hoover book, and my favourite full new adult book i' ve read. this broke my heart to a million pieces and repaired it, all in one sitting and this was just so incredibly addicting.

2. best sequel you've read so far in 2016

this book comes as no surprise and it is a court of mist and fury by sarah j. maas which is the second book in 'a court of thorns and roses' series. this just blew my mind and i still keep thinking about the characters a lot and it's been two months. i really want to re-read it already but i have a giant stack of books to go through, so...

 3. new release you haven't read yet but want to

i really really want to read the problem with forever by jennifer l. armentrout. i really enjoy jennifer's writing and even though i've heard some mixed things, i feel like i will really enjoy this contemporary.

4. most anticipated release of the second half of the year

i've got two answers for this and the first one is it ends with us by colleen hoover. this is one of my most anticipated releases of the year and as this post goes up, i'm currently actually reading ti 'cause i received it in the mail yesterday and i couldn't be more excited! i've heard a ton of good things about it and it's supposedly the best colleen hoover book yet, the best she's written so far and it's incredibly personal as well. the ratings of this are crazy high and i've only heard really amazing things about it but this also makes me scared to read it a bit 'cause i know it'll break my heart.

the second is a torch against the night by sabaa tahir 'cause i read the first book back in january this year and it was honestly so damn good. can't wait to see what happens next!!

5. biggest disappointment

oh boy... definitely beautiful disaster by jamie mcguire. so far, i think this is the lowest rating i've given to a book and i've made a full spoiler review of what things i found wrong with this book if anyone is interested in reading it.

 6. biggest surprise

well, i don't know if this is actually a surprise but i was ready basically to not like this book as much as i did just because of the genre of it. the book thief by markus zusak. i know that he's a well-loved author around the world and i am totally on board with this. i loved 'the book thief' as much as everyone else and historical fiction is so not my thing but this book was amazing. he's definitely in my top authors' list even though i have one book by him i have not read yet but i love his work a lot.

7. favourite new author

i've got a couple that i hadn't read before this year. jennifer l. armentrout, sabaa tahir and sarah j. maas. they're fabulous and i really love their works and what i've read so far. can't wait to get my hands on more jla and sjm books 'cause i've already read the only book sabaa has published. :) oh! and of contemporary, definitely nicola yoon!

8. newest fictional crush

oh! i've got two again. miles archer from 'ugly love' by colleen hoover and rhysand from 'a court of mist and fury' by sarah j. maas. those two are just freaking amazing to me. hot and one of 'em totally a creature with special powers, totally unrealistic. still incredible though.

9. newest favourite character

i might as well say the two i've mentioned before but i want to have a new answer, so i'm going with my third choice - daemon black from the lux series by jennifer l. armentrou. he's hot and sarcastic and funny and magical. yep.
10. book that made you cry

i'm a book crybaby anyways but the two books that made me cry the most were colleen hoover books - confess and too late. also 'ugly love' but i already gave my answer with this book to another question. but oh man, those two crushed me again. well done, ms. hoover.
i've had tears of anger as well, ans they were for lucas by kevin brooks. this infuriated me so much but it was so damn good.
11. book that made you happy

everything everything by nicola yoon. also my best friend's brother by knightsrachel on wattpad. amazing.

12. most beautiful book you've bought so far this year (or received)

'throne of glass' hardcovers, definitely. just look at them:

13. what books do you need to read by the end of the year?
i really want to make my way through the mortal instruments series by cassandra clare since i've only read the first book so far. also anarchy annihilation (sequel to 'anarchy') by styleslegend on wattpad. need to get on it asap. also would be nice to finish with 'throne of glass' and i'm pretty sure it's doable.

14. favourite book community member

i don't follow a lot of bookstagramers and bloggers but i do watch a lot of booktube. i've discovered a lot of great people this year on booktube, so here's a list of my absolute favourites!

and my ultimate favourite booktube people who i've been watching for a couple of years: whittynovels and peruseproject.

so there's the mid year book freak out tag! i've enjoyed doing this and yep, well, maybe i'll do one when next year comes 'round and i haven't given up on my blog, haha.

today's song choice is deaf havana's 'mildred (lost a friend)'.

until next time

x o
