(reupload from 3rd of january 2016)
hello! happy new year everyone!
so, i've been doing some reading again since the last time i updated on this little blog.
i didn't finish linger by maggie stiefvater because i'd read half of it and just could not get into it again at all. i'll postpone it for just a tad bit more until i feel like reading it again, even though i hate dnf'ing books.
and then i read perilous flames by chandni kamble (walkthemuke) on wattpad and oh, was that a ride. it is a fantasy fan fiction story with magical characters. there's two types of supernatural humans in this story - incendians and glacians. our main character is a normal - seemingly - small town girl aiden, works as a waitress. and our secondary character is michael, who, in fact, is an incendian. incendians are people who have fire running through their veins alongside with blood and so, they can create flames with their bare hands. then there are glacians, who will do anything to kill incendians. glacians, as the complete opposite, deal with ice and can make anything turn into ice or just very cold. michael has been on a run from them for years but glacians are quick to catch up, not only to michael now but also to aiden because they know who she is, after the two meet in a nasty encounter between michael and one of the most powerful glacians at her restaurant/diner.
a lot of things happen throughout this book and it hasn't been finished as of today. i read as much as i had of it on my phone in the wattpad app but then i saw a few updates and i have yet to complete them but one of the chapters is like, an hour long read, so yeah.
overall i really enjoyed it because it was different to what i usually read in fan fiction and what i even usually see in the fan fiction genre. really interesting even though it dragged just a bit before the half point but it was just great in my opinion. ashton is my favorite character, hands down.
and as of today, i started reading another book i've had on my wattpad library for quite a long while, and it is remember to forget by _smilelikeniall. this is a contemporary luke hemmings fan fiction story revolving around, well, luke's life. as from what i've read so far, the two chapters (i just finished with 'perilous flames', sorry) luke had a girlfriend but she died. so, since his girlfriend's death six months past, he hasn't gotten over it. his mother is worried alongside with his friends but luke is being forced to move all the way to america to live with his father, thinking that living far away will help him get better.
and that is basically so far what i've gotten from it. really excited to read it because:
1. it won a watty award in 2014, and
2. it's being turned into a real, physical book by blink publishing, released
in april 2016. naturally, i already pre-ordered it.
now
from the fourth of january to the tenth of january, there's a readathon taking place, called tbr takedown 3.0. it is the third tbr takedown and i'm very excited for it!
i am taking part of this with my wattpad tbr because i want to get my wattpad library fresh and new by approximately march. so, here are the challenges for each day:
read a book from your most recent book haul
naturally, me being me, i added another new story on
my reading list before reading everything from my previous library. so, this
was my latest addition after all the belwatson books i haven't read yet. this
is a luke hemimngs fan fiction and from what i've gathered, it's themed around
him being a ceo and this is the first of the ceo series.
read a book on your tbr shelf over a year (or longest)
this has without a doubt been on my reading list for
over a year and since it isn't finished and i remember it being around seventy
wattpad pages, i can probably fly through it. however, i don't even remember
the synopsis. i just know that it's a harry styles fan fiction and harry is
probably the 'bad and british' guy in this, as naturally.
read a book outside your comfort zone! (genre, content, etc)
this is another new addition to my reading list but i
don't think it'll be out of my comfort zone because hardly anything on my
wattpad library is out of my comfort zone and - come on, it's belwatson, i will
for sure love this book and i can't wait!
read a first book in a series
- mr. hemmings by kingsofmuke as i don't know how long it's gonna take me to read it
as i mentioned, this is the first of a four-book
series and i think it'll take me longer to read if it drags which i really hope
it doesn't because i usually really love reading about like one direction/5sos
being very high class/ceo/owner people and commanding people to do things and
yeah. fun times.
complete a series/read a sequel in a series
- happenstance/it’s just ann by belwatson / taking chances by _smilelikeniall
now, this i am conflicted about. the first two books
are parts of series that i've started but haven't finished quite yet. theyr'e
both my belwatson and 'happenstance' is the sequel to post it which i read in
early 2015 and 'it's just ann' is the fourth book in the aware princess series,
a mulan retelling. and 'taking chances' is the sequel to 'remember to forget'
and if i finish it, i'll read this one definitely right after if the first book
doesn't make me overly emotional that i will want to miss the second one for a
while.
read a FIRE color book (fire colours such as shades of red, pink, purple, lilac, burgundy.) lucky colors for 2016
as i mentioned, this is the book i already started
reading today. and the original cover doesn't have fire colours but the one
with the watty's winner sticker does have reds and oranges and literally no
other book on my shelf does. it's almost all like black/white/blue and really
dark covers.
read a non-novel item: poem, verse, novella, short story, etc
this is an ashton irwin short story i've had on my
shelf for a bit of time and i've always postponed reading it becasue then i
wouldn't have any short stories on my list but i guess this will have to do
now. can't wait though!
so there is all the seven challenges and all my six books i plan to read over the course of next week. i can't wait to read a good chunk of my wattpad reading list and in general, i really have wanted to read all these books for quite a while, so there you have it.
so the first week-second week of january are filled with wattpad books but that doesn't bother me as i do really want to finish reading all these and then take a slight break from reading on wattpad to read the ginormous amount of books i have on my bookshelves. well, not all, but some of them at least. i set myself the goal of reading a hundred books this year, so i really want to get started and just read everything i can.
today's song choice is 'evil angel' by breaking benjamin because i rediscovered this song last night again and i still love it so much.
until next time
x o
