120 - beautiful disaster (spoiler review)
synopsis:
GOOD GIRL
Abby Abernathy doesn't drink or swear and she works hard. Abby believes she has buried her dark past, but when she arrives at college, ger dreams of a new beginning are quickly challenged by the university's walking one-night stand.
BAD BOY
Travis Maddox, sexy, built, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs - and wants - to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight club, and his days as the notorious college Lothario.
IMMINENT DISASTER?
Intrigued by Abby's resistance to his charms, Travis tricks her into his life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain celibate for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis's apartment for the same amount of time.
OR THE START OF SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL?
Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match. Or that this is the start of an obsessive, intense relationship that will lead them both into unimaginable territory.

i did not like this book half as much as i expected to. the amount of times i wanted to throw it against a wall... oh boy.
i've seen it floating around on the goodreads' new adult populars list and i've owned this for a couple of months now, so i thought i'd give it a shot.
usually i'm all on board with the popular new adult stories but this one i just couldn't. i had a ton of issues with it but i couldn't give it less stars than it did either because that'd just be cruel because i never really give books that low of a rating.
i didn't like travis' character really at all, to be honest. i didn't like the choices abby made. at some point i was really rooting her on because of the whole vegas scene thing and i hoped she would leave him for good but of course that wouldn't be the case. i disliked it how travis called her 'pigeon' or 'pidge' - where did that even come from? that's a stupid nickname if you ask me.
i hated how travis got mad at the smallest of things, like the way abby dressed and when he woke up to an empty bed one morning. travis' need to bash up anyone who even dared to look at her made me so angry and i almost wanted to dnf this book for that sole reason.
i think this book glorifies the abusive relationship in this, and it makes me appreciate 'after' even more than i did because this book could've done with a lot of more character development to me.
also it really pissed me off that this whole book was about a span of a year and they get married after being together for a year. and then there's shepley and america who seemed a bit more sensible than abby and travis - they'd been together for longer than a year and america hadn't even met shepley's parents yet! abby had met travis' whole fucking family and made dinner for them and she was expected to be married off to travis almost immediately.
i wish sometimes abby would've just listened to america and wouldn't have gotten her feelings get in the way of her own goddamn safety at the very least.
and their tattoos... oh jeez. let's just say that i would never ever tattoo someone's name (or even nickname) on me, especially in a relationship like theirs because that was toxic. i'd be scared of my damn life if i was abby, or i would at least stand up for myself.
at first i thought it was quite a decent book but then it went really downhill for me, especially from after the vegas incident. that did it for me.
i have nothing against the author or the people who read this book and really enjoyed it - it's just that it was not my cup of tea. i want to give jamie mcguire another try and see if one of the other maddox brothers will be more sensible than the youngest one.
i just don't get how people don't see the problems in this.
i get what the author was trying to do - show people how 'all relationships aren't perfect' and whatnot but i thought it was unrealistic, sort of, and a bit overdone.
also - how the fuck was this a twilight fan fiction again?????
